Dr. Dan Launspach
Board Certified Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Dan graduated from the University of Illinois in 1976, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He attended Loyola University College of Dental Medicine to earn his D.D.S. degree in 1980. He then completed a hospital-based general practice residency at Foster McGraw Hospital-Loyola University. In 1981, he moved to Los Angeles to do his post-doctoral residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Southern California. During his pediatric residency program, he worked at both Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Rancho Los Amigos Hospital. He obtained his certificate in pediatric dentistry in 1983 and has been practicing pediatric dentistry in Bakersfield since completion of his residency program.
Dr. Launspach has two adult sons, Alex and Max. He enjoys traveling, working out, movies, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Marshall Chey
Board Certified Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Marshall received his Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA in 2002. In the fall of the same year, he continued his doctorate education by attending Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City where he received his D.D.S. degree in May of 2006. Following dental school, Dr. Marshall returned to Los Angeles where he attended a General Practice Residency at the Sepulveda VA medical center. He completed the program and received his certificate of residency in June of 2007. Working at the VA hospital gave him the honor and opportunity to meet and serve the brave heroes of our country.
Shortly thereafter, Dr. Marshall returned to New York in the fall of 2007 to continue his post-doctorate education by attending the advanced education program in pediatric dentistry at New York University. He gained invaluable experience working with the extensive network of affiliated New York hospitals, including Bellevue and Lutheran. He completed his advanced education and received his certificate in pediatric dentistry from NYU in June of 2009. In November of 2011, Dr. Marshall received his highest achievement by receiving his board certification and becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. In the fall of 2012, Dr. Marshall was inspired to achieve a M.B.A degree. He is currently taking part-time classes at UCLA Anderson School of Management. With this degree, he hopes to learn to become a better leader in hopes of leaving the world in a better place than when he entered it.
Dr. Marshall is currently on staff and on the credentials committee at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. He also teaches part-time at UCLA School of Dentistry. In addition, he currently serves on the board of directors for the Kern County Dental Society (KCDS). He is the proud member of the ADA, CDA, KCDS, CSPD, and AAPD.
Dr. Marshall is very friendly and caring: most importantly, he is very patient. In his free time he enjoys watching movies and sports. He is a huge fan of the LA Lakers, the NY Knicks, the NY Giants, and the UCLA Bruins. His hobbies include snowboarding, bowling, golfing, and hiking. Dr. Sunwoong Steve Choi
Dr. Steve Choi was born in Seoul, Korea and immigrated to southern California at a very young age. Dr. Choi received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2001. He then obtained his D.D.S. degree at the University of Southern California in 2005. After realizing that he had a passion for surgery, he decided to pursue further training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Choi continued his postgraduate education at the Case School of Dental Medicine, while simultaneously obtaining his medical degree as a part of his residency training. In his residency, he obtained the skills needed to perform a host of complex procedures ranging from corrective jaw surgery, dental implant surgery, and bone grafting. Dr. Choi has dual licenses in medicine and dentistry. He is also certified to provide general anesthesia for patients undergoing oral surgery procedures.
Dr. Choi has a clear commitment to excellence while also reflecting strong components of humanism, kindness, and compassion. Only after gaining an insight into the patient’s concerns, formulating a comprehensive dental examination and proper diagnosis, will he proceed with presentation of the best treatment plan. Dr. Choi loves practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery in Bakersfield and is excited to meet you!
After a long day at the office, Dr. Choi likes to relax by spending time with his wife, watching a good movie, and playing a good game of bowling.
Dr. Augustine Kim
Having been raised in a family whose grandfather was an orthodontist and father a general dentist, Dr. Augustine S. Kim has been living a dream that continues to get better and better as the years go by. He fulfilled his first childhood dream by attending the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts as a piano major in 1998. He then had the privilege of attending the same dental school as his father, obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry (now known as the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC) in 2008. His second dream was fulfilled when he received his orthodontic certificate from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2010, allowing him to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and to continue his legacy as an orthodontist.
Dr. Kim is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, Orange County Dental Society, and Korean American Dental Association. He is certified in Invisalign. He is board eligible with the American Association of Orthodontists and looks forward to becoming a certified board member.
Dr. Kim takes great pride and joy in the quality of care he provides for his patients. He goes beyond just straightening teeth. He understands how crucial it is to have a sound, proper bite, in order to create that bright, healthy smile. If his patients are unhappy with their treatment, Dr. Kim is equally unhappy.
Dr. Kim is an avid golfer and snowboarder. He also loves to get on airplanes and travel the world. One of his many goals in life is to visit all seven continents of the world including Antarctica!
